World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats increase in value. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense).  item upgrades  can be expensive, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that determines how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

It's not the only factor that influences the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage, special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by adding a name.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each level of the item. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Furthermore some items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
